The Jockey Lane / Monks Cross Link danger
reduction scheme was approved by Transport Board on 13th March 2024
to progress to detailed design stage.
The design is nearing completion and consultation was undertaken
between August – October 20205 with no objections being
received.
The proposed scheme includes for the prohibition of right turns out
of Monks Cross Link onto Jockey Lane to achieve the desired road
safety improvements. This will need a TRO to be advertised.
The project was approved to progress to design stage by Transport
Board on 13th March 2024. The proposal included for the prohibition
of turning.
Decision: Approve to proceed with option 1 to advertise the
TRO
Options Considered:
1. Introduce a TRO to prohibit right turn
manoeuvres from Monks Cross Link into Jockey Lane.
2. Leave the manoeuvre as existing
Options Rejected:
Option 2.
The option to leave the right-turn facility in place is not
acceptable as it will continue to present a high road safety risk
of collision. Option 1 addresses this issue and is part of the
approved scheme.
