Decision:

Background / Decision Summary:
The National Planning Policy Framework requires Local Planning Authorities to demonstrate annually a supply of deliverable housing sites that it expects to be developed within the next five years, through the publication of a five-year housing land supply. Whether or not a five-year land supply can be demonstrated is material to decisions on planning applications for new residential development in the City of York.

The information collected as part of the Strategic Planning Policy team’s ongoing monitoring has fed into the calculation of the five-year housing land supply, and the updated Local Plan housing trajectory. The updated housing trajectory is also included in this publication. The report presents information as of 1 April 2026, the start of the monitoring year.

The text and layout of the development plan monitoring webpage (https://www.york.gov.uk/planning-policy/development-plan-monitoring) will be updated to reflect the latest land supply position and signpost to the report. Previous publications will remain available to view on the webpage.
