Information about Planning Committee
Role of the Planning Committee
The role of the Planning Committee is to consider and determine applications for planning permission and other related consents, arising under the Town and Country Planning Act and associated legislation as set out in Part A of Schedule 1 of the Local Authorities (Functions and Responsibilities) (England) Regulations 2000 as amended, which have not been delegated to Officers.
Functions of the Planning Committee
To approve or refuse applications for planning permission and other related consents under the appropriate legislation in accordance with the following criteria:
a. Outline planning applications for 40 dwellings or more;
b. Full detailed applications for residential development of 40 dwellings or more;
c. All applications for development submitted by or on behalf of Councillors or Chief Officers;
d. All applications for development submitted by or on behalf of The Council, for its own major planning applications;
e. Any called-in applications accepted by the Chair in conjunction with the Vice Chair in accordance with the procedure set out at 4.1 below;
f. Any application that is deemed necessary to be considered by the Committee by Director of Environmental and Regulatory Services, Chief Planner or Chair of Planning Committee.
To enter into, renew, modify or revoke agreements and undertakings under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended) in respect of proposed developments which fall within the scope of the Planning Committee to determine unless, in the opinion of the Director of Environmental and Regulatory Services or Chief Planner, it is a minor modification.
