Outside body

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust

Description

The Foundation Trust became responsible for the provision of mental health and learning disability services in the Vale of York on 1 October 2015.

As a Foundation Trust they have a Council of Governors, comprising public, staff and appointed representatives, which ensures that they remain accountable to the members and the public.  In recognition of the importance of local authorities they have provided a seat for each principal council in their area on this body.

For information, formal meetings of the Council of Governors are held approximately six times a year including their Annual General Meeting. The timing of meetings varies between evenings and afternoons depending on the season to aid attendance.  It is a requirement of the Trust’s Constitution that Governors attend a minimum of two meetings per year.

The term of office of the appointment should be for a maximum of three years, and the Councillor appointed cannot be a member of a health overview and scrutiny committee, in accordance with the Trust’s Constitution. Substitutes are also not permitted.
