Standby and Call Out

Purpose of Report: To assess and improve the standby service to undertake necessary works only during the out of hours period. It also introduces the role of Duty Officer to provide supervisory support out of hours whilst providing savings to the service.

The Cabinet Member is asked to consider the report and decide whether to support the introduction of Duty Officer, necessary works only and savings to the service or maintain the status quo.

This decision has been deferred until February 2014 to ensure that the role of duty officer is included in job descriptions and to consult formally with input from HR.

To ensure sufficient analysis and understanding of the evidence to support any change this item has been withdrawn from the Forward Plan.

This decision will now be taken in March 2014 as sufficient analysis and understanding of the evidence has been received in order to support any changes.

To ensure that there are no problems with linking this to the craft pay and grading this item has been withdrawn from the Forward Plan.
