Purpose of Report: To outline the objectives of the Strategy and detailed actions to be delivered by key partner organisations, to improve opportunities and outcomes for members of the Gypsy Roma and Traveller Community across the City.

Members are asked to approve the York Gypsy Roma and Traveller Strategy 2013 - 2018 and support its implementation across the City over the period.

 

This report has been deferred until June in order that further work can be undertaken.

There has been extensive consultation in developing this strategy over the past 9 months, including; -key statutory, voluntary and community partners working with the community -members of the Gypsy Roma and Traveller community themselves - through face to face surveys and focus groups -members of the wider community through online and postal surveys-targeted in some cases and publicised through York Press and Radio York -two partnership events in May and December 2012 for members of the statutory,voluntary and community sectors
