20mph Speed Limit Policy Approach

Purpose of report: This report sets out the progress made to date in implementing two pilot schemes within the city (South Bank area/Clementhorpe and Murton village). It also sets out the policy approach to implementing 20mph speed limits across the city and what elements of the policy need to be informed by the outcome of the pilot sites. The report contains an indication of the proposed programme for when and where 20mph speed limits will be rolled out across the city (which will be dependant on wider council budget decisions) and relates the proposed programme to the petitions that have been received.

The Cabinet Member will be asked to note the progress on two pilot schemes and agree the way forward on those pilots and approve the recommendation that the 20mph speed limit policy approach be adopted.
