No confidence in York Council's Leadership
We the undersigned petition the council to Despite a testing financial climate for all York residents and staff at the City of York Council and with a background of staff redundancies, cuts to front line services, increased charges for services and on-going council tax increases, the council leadership have seen fit to seek to change the council’s rules to reward the highest earners with so called market supplements with one assistant director to see his pay boosted by around £10,000. Should the decision taken by Labour Councillors at Staffing and Urgency be ratified by Full Council this will set an appalling precedent for the remuneration of Senior Officers who will be eligible to receive similar increases.
We believe the City of York Council Leadership have lost all credibility with the ordinary rank and file workforce at the Council as well as losing the confidence of the Council Tax paying public of York who have to fund this largesse.
We are disgusted at these obscene ‘bounty payments’ to already high earners and accordingly sign this petition to express no confidence in the City Council leadership.
