Decision:
City of York Council host the regional
scambuster team and national eCrime investigations team on behalf
of the National Trading Standards Board (NTSB). Current funding
arrangements are to come to an end on 31st March 2015. Previous
officer decisions have been that staffing arrangements for
delivering these projects will end on this date.
NTSB have confirmed a ‘core funding’ grant to CYC for
£531K to continue hosting the Scambuster Team and eCrime
Investigations Team in 2015/16. Additional grant funding will be
made available for specific investigations (e.g. £220K for OP
Cleo2/Dougal).
The temporary posts required are:
1 FTE head of regional investigations, up to 3 FTE senior
investigators, up to 9 FTE investigators, 1FTE disclosure officer,
up to 2 FTE investigations assistant and 1 FTE admin
assistant.
Options Considered:
A. To confirm the temporary staffing
arrangements in Scambuster Team and Trading Standards to 31st March
2016
B. Not to extend the temporary staffing arrangements and not accept
the grant money from NTSB.
