Purpose:

Purpose of Report: Formal feasibility and development work around Building a Centre of Excellence for Disabled Children and their families started in May 2017 following agreement from Council Management Team.

The report will provide Members with an overview of the feasibility and development work that has taken place in conjunction with key stakeholders. This will include; the financial business case, staff development plans, building design proposals and site options.

The report will seek agreement for the business case, recommend to council that funds be allocated for capital investment and seek agreement on preferred site option.

Decision:

Resolved:  (i)      That the business case for the development of a Centre of Excellence for Disabled Children and their families in York be approved.

 

                   (ii)      That approval be given to progress to the next stage of design, planning and development.

 

Reason:     To enable the provision of a Centre of Excellence with the potential to be a leader in innovative practice both regionally and nationally, as part of the wider development of services for disabled children and young people across the city.
