Purpose:

Purpose of Report: Cabinet are asked to consider which of the political groups should be invited to appoint the Lord Mayor for the 2015-16 municipal year.

Members are asked to invite the group with the most points for the Mayoralty to nominate a Lord Mayor for the 2015-16 municipal year.

This decision will now be taken by Cabinet at their rescheduled meeting on 16 December.

Decision:

Resolved: That Cabinet agree to invite the Labour Group to nominate the Lord Mayor for 2015/2016, in line with the existing accumulated points system.

Reason: To ensure that the Council secures the necessary leadership to undertake its civic functions and provides continuity for future selection.
