Purpose:

Purpose of Report: To ensure the authority is delivering value for money and carrying out winter maintenance duties in line with other local authorities. The report will present options in order for the Cabinet Member to make a decision on actions to be taken.

The Cabinet Member is asked to consider the options available and approve the recommendations which follow CYC policies and procedures.

 

Due to an extended web consultation period this item will now be considered at a public Decision Session on Wednesday 9 October 2013.

Decision:

 

Resolved:  (i)      That the grit bin assessment process be

                             approved.

 

(ii)      That Option 3 (Implement the primary gritting route, secondary gritting route and grit bin provision published in the winter maintenance consultation proposal with the addition of bus routes of 30 minutes frequencies or less in one direction and school bus routes not included in the proposed PGR)  

 

Reason:     By undertaking a review and consultation on the gritting and salt bin provision the Council has taken residents’ feedback and recommends option 3 to provide a safe, efficient and effective service.
